right i went to paint shop today and the guys want to take the doors off to paint in and around the curves.

i removed the passengers footwell carpets and found the block connectors for the door wiring, 4 of them, blue/yellow/black/white.

i unplugged them and checked how loose they were in order to pull them through the door jam.

i then thought i would plug them back in until the bodyshop wanted the doors off as they would need to open the door via the mirror button as window was up to prevent dust ingress.

plugged back in and went to open the door and no response from the button and it has been working fine.

i disconnected the battery for a bit but no joy
i unplugged the door operation box in the boot (unplugged all connectors to this)but no joy, i unplugged this with battery connected and batery disconnected but neither worked.

can anyone help me get the bloody thing back up and running.

do the solenoids have fuses in the fuse panel?

Don't know about any of that but assuming the drivers door opens you could always use the 'emergency' handle to open the passenger door.

Apologies if you've already thought of this. smile

Man PlumAJP - You have some censored luck with your car !!

Can not suggest anything you have not already tried, unless you have damaged a wire in one of the blocks as you have messed about with them....

i have been leaning over from driverside and opening door via the emergency pull.

i will check connections in blocks tomorrow but button connections in mirror are ok.

rather get it fixed now than when its freshly painted.

you never know it may have sorted itself on my return

Mine did this recently and I think that it's more likely you've disturbed one of the (3) connectors in the door that basically corrode to a horrible green mush.

You'll have to fish about a bit (only one is readily apparent) with the window up.
You may find a 4" diameter hole just below the glass line that has been Evo-stuck over with a rubber disc which you need to remove (at least partially) to gain access to all the connectors.

Best then to cut the connectors out and replace or hard wire.

Hope that this helps?

Cheers

well I have removed the door now for paint and to do that I had to unplug the 3 square connector blocks in the footwel and push them through the door jam and out of the rubber grommet. the door is on the floor now.

Is it these blocks I need to check for dodgy connections or is it elsewhere?

No!

There are another 3 inside the door, you'll have to remove the interior door panel first. There's a row of hex socket bolts in the shut face and underside of the door that hold it in place.
