Has anyone else had any problems with the 5 spoke twist 19" alloys on the 335d SE - thought I had a puncture today so took it in to the local tyre place and apparently its a hairline crack in the alloy!!!! spoke to the dealer and its booked in tomorrow for replacement - should be interesting when we discuss warranty etc. (car 2 years old)

Loads of them have cracked.

You need to search the UK section of www.e90post.com to see the pages of threads about it.

Had a cracked one on my old 330ci.

Dealer said it was getting more and more common with low profile tyres and speedhumps and speed potholes everywhere (I live in Surrey)

It has a lot to do with the stiffer side walls on the runflats, when you go for a tyre change the amount of pressure required to "break" the beading, by the tyre changing machine, on the runflat tyre is much much more than a regular tyre. When the beading actually does break free from the wheel the machine has a tendency to hit the inside of the wheel causing stress and shock.

Yes they are the run flats - had heard a rumour that it is getting more common - have any of you had problems getting them replaced under warranty.

Probably cracked under the Earth stopping torque from the wheels.

Remapped it is the only car with more torque than the earth itself!! biggrin

Style 225 have a fault, they are cracking, search E90post like I said, you may get them to cover it if you do.

When a remapped 335D accelerates it doesn't move forward, it pushes Earth back.
