Gentlemans Clubs... Do you use them?
Discussion
Evening chaps.
I appear to be a rather enviable position. I've been offered premises with a lap dancing licence at reasonable money
It's a sizeable place, and I'm drawn to it for two reasons. Firstly, I can run my cab office out of a back office, effectively reducing overheads on both business', and obviously that it would be pretty cool to own a girlie bar.
Now, I chose to put this in the lounge to get a bit of a response from the average PH'er. Mods, feel entirely free to move this to the business section. I'd appreciate a few hours in the lounge though to help the thread gain momentum.
I appreciate that running a Gentlemans Club is not going to be a walk in the park. However, I already have some quite firm connections around the area, and would be well catered for by licencing, security, dancers etc.
What I really want to know is the kind of clubs are in fashion at the moment...
My initial idea was to make the place really classy, not at all cheesy. Keep the drinks at pub prices, and offer a simple grill menu. That way, you might encourage business people to use it for entertaining in the evenings, or for 'meetings' at lunchtime.
The other thought was to make it a really wild place, strippers on the bar, body shots galore etc... a real coyote ugly kinda place. Fun to work at, fun to visit, fun to spend your dosh.
Or do you guys prefer the older format of private booths, pound in the glass kind of stuff?
Looking to keep the place rammed, making money on drink and grub, while letting the girls take a vast majority of the dance money.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? You're all invited to the opening night by the way
Oh, another thought was to have a couple of Gay nights. Seem to be popular at other clubs.
Peace

The lunchtime in a strip bar isn't really something we do in the UK, and exopensing them is harder than you would think - my company is rare in allowing expenses claims for these people. So I don't think the business customer idea is a real goer.
What you are better off going for is the bar with strippers concept. Thing is, you have licensing issues. I am sure that many chaps would go to a bar that had poledancers in it for an evening. But these places don't exist - so what happens is that they go to a bar, and then end up hammered at a lapdancing club at the end of the evening. Which is never as much fun as spending the whole night in an American style strip joint - but I'm wondering if they are actually allowed here?
Also, friend of mine runs a couple of independent establishments. Don't undersetimate the interest that local organised crime syndicates will take in you.

I think a good start would be to get women that actually look quite nice, the ones I went to over the years had an abundance or what I would class white trash aids victims or large black ladies which I believe our American cousins call booty.
Don't let the football shirt lot in and you'll be onto a winner, mind you if it already has all of these licences why isn't the person who applied running it?

Wild sounds like fun, but I get the impression the clean up job could be horrendous. Classy is probably the way forward. I've only ever been to two, one back home and one in Blackpool. At least in the Blackpool one the girls didn't look like they had just crawled out the halfway house.
Oh and as long as it's not £5 for a bottle of bud (what i paid at both locations) then it's worth a visit!

Well I was thinking that if the stage was behind the bar (like the Bing! in the Sopranos), then the attention would always be towards the bar What you are better off going for is the bar with strippers concept. With the girls doing a tour of the bar area every twenty minutes or so for a quid in a glass, and the others can be pimping themselves / talking to punters to get the private dances. Fairly standard stuff really. Then you could work on getting some fun events in there - olive oil wrestling, bar walking etc.
Licencing may not be that much of an issue. We've got a very solid relationship with the Licencing team.
What may be a problem, as you say is how to keep the place busy ALL night, rather than just that late spot when the pubs and other clubs kick out. I'd like to do some food in there - I'm mates with a fantastic grill chef. Maybe just stick to three cuts of steak, fries and onion rings. a dozen sauces. Thats it.
I eat wherever there is good food. If I can stuff good steak, ale AND stare at fine boobage, then I'm in there like swimwear. Anyone else, or is food a bad idea?
Agree about the not eating, also wouldn't probably go anywhere where someone is asking for a quid in a glass. The places that are more relaxed are best.
Went to one down in Bournemouth that offered massages (proper shoulder ones) at your seat which was also rather good.
