5 years old now I'd imagine like most things they get a bit brittle with age?

do the brakes still work? Did you take them in with a fault or is the vauxhall dealer pulling a fast one?

I was havin the clutch fluid changed after shakeys and the dreaded hard peddle and ask him if he could have a look at the handbrake I've got ap's fitted but the handbrake was lousy before all that. I never use the handbrake but gonna strip the rear down after the 4th and have a look just wondered if anyones been there done that so to speak

I have heard stories of hand brake mechanisms breaking (!) during MOT tests and handbrake turns. I've often wondered what actually gets broken. As I found out the back end of the car locks up and makes a loud bang if you apply the handbrake, with just the slightest forward movement of the car. The Monaro handbrake operation is an 'all or nothing' affair, there is no gradual increase in rolling resistance as you pull up the lever. Does this pull the friction material off the shoe?

Never found anyone that has actually broken anything under those circumstances. Never met a man that has had his arm broken by a swan either.
