I've just brought an X308 XJR! It's mainly to replace my XJ-S (which I have had for nearly 5 years now) initially I wanted another XJS or an XK8 but this is faster and cheaper then either of those so it was too good to turn down. You get a huge amount of car for your money.
The car has 94k miles, FJSH, 1 family owned from new and all the electrics work. There are 3 small dings in the bodywork (none that go through the paint) and the alloys are perfect, with new Pirelli pzero tyres. Strangely the car has no options on it at all, which is a shame as I would have liked the Harmon Kardon stereo (the standard one is nothing special, the only dissapointment on the car for me) and I have to manually fold the mirrors to get it in the garage. Being an early car I don't even have memory seats! I will say how much I paid, in case anyone reading is looking at similar cars. It was £3,600 to which you have to add £400 for the chain tensioners (being done Wedensday) unless you know they have been done.
So far I love it. Like the XJ-S it's very quiet and smooth, and handles surprisingly well. Driving quickly down tight roads does show up the cars size and weight, but that's not what I brough the car for. Much better to cruise along on faster A roads, and dip into the power when you have the space. Driven like that it's a very relaxing car to drive, and very satisfying too. There's no effort involved to go very fast indeed, it's a different kind of thrill to driving a low to the ground, agressive sports car but it's just as intoxicating.
They're not bad if you buy a good one Stedman. There's plent of massive mileage cars that are testiment to this and in terms of fuel you get the same whether you hoon it or drive like Miss Daisy so if you drive like a mental case all the time it's actually good value
