This is not a flippant question.
Not looking for hilarious one liners.
It's a genuine enquiry.

How do blind people shop in supermarkets?

By smell, that is why their is fruit at the front.

"This is a fresh shop, everything here is fresh! i will do well here"

Any why they don't put toilet paper at the entrance.

"This is a poo shop, everything here is made of poo! im not shopping here!"

To answer your question, i believe a member of staff/helper will go with them.

When I was a young 'un I worked in a rather fine blue and white striped establishment. Back in those days one of the till tarts would walk around the shop with them.

I guess they must have helpers and what not.

And another question on from that, can blind people visualise their thoughts or are they in permanent darkness?

I think they follow the self certified disabled aka the fat bds who nick the scooters because they ate too many pies, the noise of them just sitting there sweating is enough for the heightened senses of a blind person to follow.

So much for the sensible answers smile

So...it would appear "with a helper" is the answer.

Very few blind people have no vision, most only have remarkably reduced vision. With effort and aids most are able to shop, catch a bus etc.
They may have to do things differently e.g. a person with no peripheral vision will find it difficult walk around the shop but be able to see well centrally ie read the prices.
A person with good peripheral vision may be able to walk around the shop but may need a powerful magnifier to see the prices.

Having played football against blind kids there isn't a lot that they can't do.

That is just cruel, did you put big black glasses on just to win something?

coincidentally I was wondering about blind people doing their banking earlier - in HSBC the statement machine has the word statement in Braille on the front, the paying in machine has "paying in" in Braille on the front.

Both are touch screen machines....

You see, the joke was that their dog (which is legally allowed in the shops) would choose the stuff the dog wanted; like food and toys and place these things in the blind person's basket.

I thought it was really funny.
