What's the best fuel hose to use?

Hi all,

Excuse a lowly sprinter posting on your forum but I'd welcome a little advise.

I replaced the fuel hoses on my Cerb' beginning of last season, a local hose 'specialist' made them up for me, I was clear as to what application they were to be used for.

Anyway, fired up the beastie a while back only to find one hose had ruptured and several others appeared to have collapsed, they were SS overbraid so it wasn't immediately obvious that they had collapsed.

So, I've done a bit of research and it seems that Fluorosilicone fuel hose is just about the best available, it's not cheap, but that's not really a major factor when I consider that my P&J could have easily gone up in flames, with me in it!

Anyone have any experience or comment?

Do you know what spec the hose was? No part of the system should have been under suction, and none of it should have been under high enough pressure to burst. However, if it's the wrong size it's quite easy to damage the hose when you force it over a spigot that it doesn't fit.

I suggest you go to your local Pirtek dealer and get some 100R6 fuel hose in the right size, get some decent hose clips (not worm drive) and don't use braided hose or overbraid unless the hose is routed somewhere where mechanical damage is expected (in which case I'd say you've routed it wrongly).
