Anyone fancy racing a Cerbera?

£6,800 for a 4.5
Okay the mileage is high, but...with a little love, sell some bits you don't need, you could have a decent race car ready for next season.
Mike?
No.2 Car?

Too good for a race car in my opinion, it basically needs a new clutch, the fact it has high miles doesn't meant it may not make an excellent road car for a good few years yet!

TBH I always keeping an eye open for a very sorry Cerb that would make a good race car and you really need one like a cat C that is way beyond repair or fire damaged, personally if I was going down that route I would be looking to virtually gut the car anyway, get rid of the interior, probably have removable front etc so you want a basket case.

WTF?
I am tempted... and I set out to buy an mx5.
Hmmm.
Ben, you're worrying me, firstly a Smart Car now an MX5!I am tempted... and I set out to buy an mx5.

Hmmm.
Tim

...and you'd be suprised how agile/grippy my Smart is, a standard tyre'd Cerbera wouldnt see which way it went in the twisties, trust me - we've tried it!

Go for it, you could do it up over time and I'm sure you'd get parental approval (at least 50% anyway
). Worth a look. Chassis and non smoking engine permitting....
Edit: that was aimed at Ben obviously

Already got one to do a body-off rebuild on thanks! I'll pass this time and continue looking for something sensible... I fear there may be only one Cerb in my heart anyway.

Only ever seen one quick smart and that was at the Nurburg f1 circuit done by these guys:

I've seen Tim drive. I wouldn't give your smart a chance

I've seen Tim drive, hes very good.
On 1a's tyres though, theres nothing in it, the tighter the corner - the more the smart is in its element. Its lighter than an S1 elise with the same tyre sizes (or atleast mine is!) - trust me, its stupidly agile.
It just has nothing in terms of straight line pace/ the worst gearbox on the planet. I should point out that mine has had some carefully thought out modifications, it really is quite different from most others. Its pretty much a fat, tall go-kart now.
The image you've posted looks to be a car with a standard rear subframe - so it could be just a heavily tuned standard engined car (if so, it'll be reasonably slow). The lorinser wheels it has will ruin the handling and probably make it only marginally grippier than a standard car. Mine runs much lighter and similarly wide roadster wheels with more favourable offsets.
I've lapped the 'ring in mine, I dont think it'll be going back without an engine conversion in the future, but if it does - the passenger seat is free to any PH'er - just bring a book for the straight bits.
edit: Our GPS Performance box see's the Cerbera hit a lateral limit of about 1G normally - the Smart matches it with its old suspension and fuel saver front tyres, its since been improved.
