2010 Le Mans Camping

[R2GDR]

Looking for some help on camping for next years race been to Le Mans last 20 Years always have problems getting camping tickes for the houx, tried to book for next year no responce to till early the race year always sold out, sent to bausjour this year miles from anywhere Anbody got some advise for camping tickets

My usual ticket people had also sold out for Houx - try Tickets 2 U (08712 088770) booked Houx with them yesterday.

Yeah, here's some advice pal: Don't fockin' do it...

Sorry to bang on about this, as I have on many other threads, but fk-me, it's a whole year until this time next year - why are you even thinking about booking tickets yet?

If we could all just get together and abandon that autistic temptation to book fkin' ridiculously early and then we could all just turn up next June and buy whatever tickets we want on the gate.

I know that people will say if you want the best sites with all your mates then you have to book early, but thats a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you all insist on trying to get ahead of one another with your booking then only the very few earliest, and frankly most mentally ill, will get what they want and the vast majority will be disappointed. I never seem to get good tickets anymore, they only had BSJ left when I arrived on Friday afternoon this year. And that's all because of yooooo...

So let's all just chill; turn up, see what you get - it's more fun that way and a whole lot less stressful.

And whilst I'm in the mood, what's with all of the following:

Stickers?
Team names?
Matching shirts?
Paddling pools?
Fireworks?
Burn-outs?
Water pistols?
Endless requests for pictures of yourselves?
Smiling?
Enjoyment?

I'm off for a lie down now...

But wasn't there loads of spare room in Houx this year or was I imagining it?

Also... am I wrong in thinking it's not the full Le Mans race next year? (I could easily be wrong, I don't know much about next year).

I think someone should be considering Hormone replacement therapy.

The reason you get the crap campsite is cause you don't book early enough! If you choose to be at the back of the queue, then you get what we don't want. That's life!
Do yourself a favour, get on the phone, book up and then forget about it for 11 months.

Due to cut backs and to save the teams some money in the current global economic crisis, next year's race has been reduced to 12 hours.

I can't help thinking you're trying to fight a losing battle here, so why make life difficult for yourself ?

I don't disagree with your basic premise, but seriously, the world just doesn't work that way. Unless you can convince everyone who is definitely going, who wants to go, who is thinking about going or even contemplating the idea of thinking about going then you're never going to change the system ! So why fight it ?

What I *would* like to see is the removal of the ticket agencies and for the ACO to get their act together and sell direct, with no booking fees or mark ups. Other circuits / events seem to manage it OK after all.

Just Tickets will take bookings for Houx now, 01304 - 228866 if they have places left. Usual story, 2 General Admission with every pitch, expect to pay at least £60 markup overall. There are other agencies which don't mark up quite as much but most don't have an allocation for Houx.

On teh bright side, it looks like the ACO have extended Houx further, they've knocked through a wall to another field at the North end, about 100 extra pitches marked out, the whole lot was empty and taped off in 2009. You'd haave though they'd have moved some of the poor souls from flooded pitches on the other sites.

Just Tickets were sold out of Houx more than 2 weeks ago when we tried to get them......

They already do - that is how I always buy my tickets. Just that they sell large amounts to the agencies meaning that the amount they have left for themselves is limited.

Got all mine for my son and I through ACO for 2009. I did join ACO which gets tickets discount too, and also availability of pre booked seats in the ACO tribune. Have used MRI in the past regularly but I do not think I will do so for the future.

The net upshot being that I end up having to either a) pin my hopes on the chance that I'll get lucky and will be able to get a plot in my chosen campsite directly from the ACO, or b) biting the bullet and using an agency to guarantee I get the site I want.

I know this isn't their core business and all that, but they seem to manage OK with normal seats and grandstand tickets. Surely they don't *need* to use agencies ? If they were to allocate some of the campsites like Beausejour, Karting Nord and Tetre Rouge to the big groups and leave Houx, Houx Annexe and some of the other sites to regular customers then that would seem like a reasonable compromise to me. Nothing to stop an 'agency' going and booking a block on behalf of a client, but I don't think they should be given half the campsite (or maybe more) to then sell on to people.
