Anyone know of a track day being run at Abbeville in late August or September?

Looking for open pit lane and one that will allow our Radical there. From what I can make out, Lotus on track do a lot there but specifically say no Radicals...boo hiss!

We got the French bug at Le Mans Bugatti and want to try some more.

I'm pretty sure the only track day organiser who runs at Abbeville is LOT. Dunno why you'd want to take a Radical there though - it's a slow track - 2nd/3rd gear 95% of the time in a Lotus. Much beter tracks out there for you I would have thought.

I think we have come to that conclusion to be fair.

Quite keen on Croix en Tournois (my spelling mistakes)which looks far better.

WE are very open to suggestions. Not keen on Spa again, as we don't have long enough legs to make it as much fun as it can be.

Come on, point us to an unknown gem!

I will get you contact details later today (I am waiting for some), but there is a number of European track day providers.

What about Zolder, I am hoping to join an Airel atom, and Exige next Friday if my new tyres arrive....smile

Didn't think of Zolder.

Also know of a guy doing a track day at Abbeville today with an atom and some Radicals (I think). It is a belgium outfit, so when his back I will email you the details.

Would be good to see the radical on the track !

If you are looking for a gem try Charade near Clermont-Ferrand.

It is a mini Nurburgring set in the Auverne. There are open days most months and the guys running it a very friendly. Perhaps not the safest circuit, but great fun and excitement.

I shall be there at the end of July, praying for no rain.

If you would like assistance, please ask.

I'd be very interested in hearing more. Had a nosey there a couple of weeks ago on my way down south and thought it looked a great circuit.
When you say not the safest - how do you mean? In terms of organisation, other drivers track manners or just that the circuit itself is challenging?

It is very much like the Nurburgring, it is a naturally flowing circuit set on a hillside, but unlike the Nurburgring it is fairly easy to learn with 20 corners. It is quite narrow, particularly considering it was a GP circuit in the 80s and there are not huge run-off areas and there are concrete retaining walls quite nearby.

So, I would say that it needs to treated with respect and build up speed over the day rather than go mad on the first few laps – all common-sense stuff really
.
The staff are very pleasant; the owner looks as though he could be the brother of Jean Reno.

Generally, I would say that French track days are not as well organised as UK ones (except French LoT) and some other drivers can be less courteous, but if you are reasonably experienced and take good care of your mirrors, there is absolutely no reason why you should not have a fantastic day.

Cheers - who are you going with in July? My French isn't brilliant and I can't see any details of track days/dates on the website direct.

LoT and Autotrack will be there tomorrow, just packing the car now and looking forward to a 30degC heatwave.

Having a serious think about doing this one at the end of July with a mate, I have a sneaking suspicion it might be slightly warm though!

With previous trips to the south of France I suspect it will be worth breaking the trip down, , leave Wednesday, break Wednesday night in somewhere like Le Mans as I would try to avoid coming round Paris like the plague , arrive Thursday, Hoon Friday, back Saturday / Sunday or something like that anyway?
Any decent hotels to stay at locally from your own experience?

Is it a real car killer like the Bugatti which managed to devour the CSL’s dif last month?
Are any of the organisers English speaking as my French O Level was twenty three years ago and is not the best.

Anything else to share really, it’s a circuit which I’ve known about but never thought of visiting until picking up on this thread

Thanks very much
