I've bought an 1997 XK8 that had some issues, initially it was the gearbox but then I found out the engine had a knock so a friend and I have fitted a new engine out of a 2001 XJ8, all was going well until I found out the car was eligible for the free throttle body repair but only if I get it done by 30th June so i've booked it in for monday.

Now comes the problem, the car isn't running, we've got it assembled but need the crankshaft locking pin and the cam locking tool.

If I have to buy them I will but if I can beg steal or borrow or rent them all the better.

Does anyone have any idea where to get them in the North West at short notice

Thanks for that, I rang but they're only open mon-thurs and saturday,I managed to find one of the cam locking tools so i'm going to give it a go with that tomorrow, my only other option was a set at £230 but that had to be ordered, I rang jaguar to see if I could get the deadline for the throttle body extended to be told a flat NO.

They did say they#re putting a new throttle body on which costs £1000+ just for the body so we'll see what happens on monday

If you are having to pay for one I think I do have a new one I could do for a lot less than that

I didn't make it in time for the free throttle body recall so it looks like i'm stuck with the deathtrap model, it's been OK for 12 years so I hope it'll be OK while it's in my hands too.

How much were you looking for on the throttle body, i'm not even sure they were going to fit a new body as a number of sites suggest it's just a new spring
