Evening All,

We're going on holiday to Pembrokeshire next month, and I'd like to take my bike with me.

I can't put the bike in the back of our Shogun like usual, as there's the slight matter of 3 kids and luggage to fit in there. I also can't really use the roof carrier I use on the MG, as it would be just too high, and I really don't want to buy a towbar carrier to go on the back of the Shogun, as I'll hardly ever use it.

Question therefore - Does anyone know anywhere that hires out carriers for a couple of weeks? Google in this instance is not my friend.

Can't you borrow one? You're more than welcome to borrow mine - I work in Swindon but ironically live in Pembrokeshire...

I'm sure there's someone in Surrey...

Unfortunately the only person I know who uses a tow bar mounted rack actually uses it at least twice per week, so I can't really ask to deprive him of it for a fortnight.

The ideal would be someone who bought a bike and rack in a burst for fitness and has had them sitting in their garage ever since, I suppose! hehe

Are you near Hertfordshire? You can borrow mine, though you need towbar/electrics plus a number plate.

I'm in Epsom, so it's a run round the M25, but not necessarily an issue, and thanks for the offer. Whereabouts are you?

The Shogun already has a tow bar and electrics, although I've never used them, so I suppose I'd better find something to hook up and check before heading too far!

I'm in Watford - let me know the dates you need and I'll check I don't need it in that time.

I found something on Ebay earlier which might do the job for £25, so I'm going to try that first, seeing as it would be cheaper than 2 return trips to Watford! smile

It's basically just the bars on which the bike rests, rather than the whole frame. These screw onto a couple of the mounting studs for the spare. At that price, it's got to be worth a go.
