Try a good leather cleaner or mildly soapy water first.Black leather seats can go shiny if not wiped over-a good clean should take it back to a matt finish.

Try a search on www.detailingworld.co.uk - everything you need to know (and more)about cleaning / caring for your car. My understanding is that essentially the shine comes from dirt/grease together - with wear and tear - that sits on the leather coating (assuming that yours is a newish car). As suggested try cleaning it and see if this helps. The link I have posted will give suggested products

Water (soapy or otherwise) is not good unless you plan to treat afterward with quality products.

We also have a detailing section on PH (in case you were unaware).
