Just heard/felt one of these, I think had two blades anyway, flying over my house. Pretty impressive but anyone know why it would be flying over paisley? Or is it fairly routine for them to be out flying around anywhere?

Dunnoe about Sea Knights but there's been no end of Chinooks,Lynx etc flying over the barracks near me the past few days. Maybe some sort of Army excercise on in Scotland ?

When I heard it I said it was a chinook. But couldnt find anything on google under 'chinuke'. So the Sea knight was the only thing that looked similar. By no means can I be sure it was either of these I have limited knowledge at best about all things aviation.

It was probably the Rescue Sea King which past by me last night (Partick) but came from Paisley way. About 11pm or something? It often goes by to land down at the Tall Ship.

It is very very loud compared to the regular choppers that swing by. Ive seen and heard Chinooks before but extremely rare in Glasgow (G8 summit etc)

So a chinook today about 11am when I was walking my dog near the erskine bridge. Saw a sea king at the back of the SECC last night the back of ten, looked like it was about to take off. Sometimes the sea kings land at the RAH after a rescue.

2 Chinooks flying south over Queensferry at lunchtime today. There has been a lot of military chopper activity over west Edinburgh over the last few days.

Seaking's circling Stirling the past two nights, thought they'd be looking for someone in the Forth initially.

There's a display at the Show?

Eeeexcellent (I'm working there on Sunday - if anyone's going, pop along to the PoppyScotland marquee and pretend not to know me, and I'll pretend to sign you up tongue out)

We've had a fair bit of stuff going on with 3Rifles lately - dunno if it's to do with the show or some ongoing charity thing

Should have thought that one through a bit - the proximity to the airport would make that a definite nono hehe

Saw plenty of jets (which isn't uncommon) and choppers low over Cupar last week too.

I was up St. Andrews over the weekend, and although it's probably very common up there - being next to RAF Leuchars, I saw a Chinook and some military jet shooting past.

I love seeing the jets. The noise they make, and the way the sound is lagged. The ultimate experience must be getting catapulted off an aircraft carrier deck in one of those things.. smile

Yeh iv heard the jets and its an amazing sound. Iv spent a fair bit of time in north berwick and you see them fairly regularly. They seem quite low bout 100 feet at times which is brilliant!

The chopper was loud but just not the same!
