Had a strange e-mail this morning, supposedly from HMRC, telling me that I am due a tax return and I just need to tell them which bank account to send it to. Looked very professional and convincing, and after sending my tax return in a few weeks back, I am expecting a rebate. However, two things warned me off:
1)HMRC already have the bank details for rebate, and have never felt the need to ask me in previous years.
2)The website required me to 'log in' to my own bank account on a linked page. scratchchin

Not really a close call, but perhaps the most subtle scam to have seen my inbox, so I thought it worthwhile to alert others, just in case.

Total scam - the Revenue would NEVER e-mail you directly.

I got one emailed to my work account. Funny as I am a tax advisor. The address given was completely false.
