Hi all.

Cant find any vids on the net of a BEC doing 0-100 in car at dash. Would be nice to compare and fully understand how fast they are. I found this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSzUiSeUGQk

Is this compariable to a BEC 1000cc?
They do it in just over 4 sec to 60 I know but how fast after does it drop of? knowing that 7 type are aero-criminal I would of thought they struggle SLIGHTLY more than a full bodied Fury. Whats your thoughts? Have you got an in car vid of you doing a 1\4 mile?
DONT POST IT UP IF YOU CAN BE IDENTIFIED ON THE ROAD. DONT WANT YOU LOOSING YOUR TOYS!

That's my Busa engined Fury starting the RGB race at Brands last Saturday. According to my data logs (I'm still faffing about trying to overlay the data on the video) I hit 60 in just about 4 seconds and when I came off the gas for the second time going into Paddock Hill in 3rd gear I was doing 92.4mph, my logs show that as 9 seconds. Bear in mind that that wasn't a full bore start - I probably didn't have quite enough revs on when I dumped the clutch, short shifted first gear and was easy on the gas in second as I didn't want to head butt Austen in the yellow Fury in front :-) I also lifted in 3rd before getting back on it mostly cos I'm a wuss and it was quite crowded going into the first corner :-) I'd have thought with no-one else in the way I would have been hitting 100 at about 9 seconds.

Brands must be about the best spectator circuit in the country.
No, didn't use 6th, if I got a good run out of Clearways I was occasionally getting close to the limiter in 5th - about 125mph. I've got a 3.14 diff so the gearing's fairly tall, probably good for 135-140 in top.

You ought to have a look at some of the video from the front of the grid, Derek's is always impressive - ZX12 power:

Just search YouTube for RGB 750MC.

Worth also remembering that they stop and corner very quickly as well. I now have the bug and would not use anything else on a track.

BobM - greta video.

Happy with myself that I am 2 seconds off "race" pace from ym two outing to brands hatch. (R1 Indy)

Do you know what a typicla qualifying lap time is at all? Do you run a control tyre (I use 888's)

All the times are here

I'm still on quite a learning curve and am near the back of the pack. Derek Jones' pole was 50.95.

Thing about Brands is if you don't know it well you have to disconnect your brain from your brake foot to avoid slowing down too much for Paddock Hill! I was 2 seconds a lap quicker than last time we were there in April and I suspect will gain another second next time out there.

While racing's more fun than trackdays on a typical race weekend you might only get 2 or 3 sessions on the circuit, even a test day generally only gets us 4 more sessions, so less actual track time.

We're on Yoko A048 control tyres.

http://video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=0-60&e...

if it doesnt work its under westfield busa 0-100-0 on google video

What i always say to people when they ask how fast a BEC is on track, is that if you get overtaken then you are either not trying or something VERY fast has just passed you! I think that sums it up! But i doubt anything much cheaper comes past, that is part of the point too.

Lee - the cars that always seem to catch me out are the E32 shape 3 series, normally white and look like touring cars but owned by a few lads.

normally rocking a mega camber and sometimes slicks, but they seem to always b at a track where I am and always very quick - could just be mega drivers

i still have a lot to learn in my indy, and more when i get a quick rack

I had a ride around Brands in the EVO magazine M3 "Target 8 minutes" Nurburgring car. It was properly sorted with some BIG brakes and Serious Suspension, Cage, stripped ect. But my god it was amazing handling, it removed every bump of Brands and could so easily have handled another 200 bhp. I was quite shocked considereing it must of weighed 1300kgs at least but only had 320bhp. Not surprised after that that they can go so fast, especially the ones that are not road legal (the EVO one was). Not HALF as much FUN to drive as a BEC though!

On our test day at Snetterton I was getting passed by some pick up trucks (as well as some GT3 Cup cars) paperbag

I don't know what power these pickups had but they were very light (fast in the corners as well as straights), on slicks and were clearly pedaled by boys who knew their way round! Scary.

That, and Snetterton being the one track that doesn't really suit BEC's in this country.

You cannot really count anything that is a pure racing car, if you was to put 300lb springs and soft slicks on your FuryBusa then you would probobly go a fair bit quicker too! But as Matt says, Snetterton has you bouncing off the rev limiter 2/3rds down the straight so you just sit there at 130 as other cas cruise past! I remember getting overtaken by a real shed of a MK1 Golf at Brands once in my Furyblade. Turns out it was lightened to within an inch of its life, had a VAG 1.8 Turbo tuned to over 300bhp and was running slicks. And i bet it weighted about 750kgs. Turns out the guys uncle rallycrossed a Ford RS200 and these guys knew these cars inside out. And it was road legal, saw it driving through Croydon once, awesome. In a way though, cars like that have the same ethos as a kit car, they just happed to start life as a steel shell rather than a web of steel tubes. I LOVE crazy trackday cars like that.

bob the pick up that was overtaking you, was it low in height? I saw some short looking pickups at brands a while ago while watching truck racing. They were basically kit cars. Full tubular chassis with slicks and vauxhall xe engines. Just fibre glass body over the top to give shape. They were very fast so dont feel too bad!
