I have purchased a 205 for trackdays.(first one booked at Bedford on Monday)

There are 17" wheels on at the moment with 4 pot calipers.

I was going to change the wheels to 15" as recommended by numerous people, however i have found that the 15" will not fit over the front brakes.
16s will but i am trying to find out if it is worth me getting a new set of wheels for 1 inch size difference.

Whichever wheels i use will have r888's put on.

Any advice will be appreciated

Check out the price. 16" 888 are very expensive compared to 15" and 17"frown

The original 15" speedlines will just clear 306 GTi front calipers and 283mm discs, with some decent pads this was plenty in my old 205 GTi. Need the 306 master cylinder though.

I'm looking to keep the 4 pot brakes.

So i have to even stick with the existing 17's or change down to 16".

I am trying to find out if there would be any major difference on the track between 16 and 17's.

The important difference is the weight of the wheel. If you can find out the weight of the standard 17s (preferably with a tyre too) you will then be able to work out how much weight difference any possible new wheels will provide. Although the total weight reduction may seem small the fact that it is "unsprung" weight makes a big difference.

If it doesn't have it already the gearbox from the 1.6 GTi bolts straight on to the 1.9 engine and has lower gearing.
