move into a property that was the scene of a BRUTAL murder only 5 years ago?
To cut a long story short I've decided to move house and have found the ideal place, totally individual and absolutely what I'm looking for, there's nothing else like it on the market.
I did some research last night and discovered that in 2004 the owner was disemboweled in the bathroom and completely brutally slain, the place was religiously cleansed before being sold on, the murderer was caught and locked up.
A fascinating story which in itself doesn't bother me or the mrs really, a lot of old properties have history but maybe not so recent. I'm going to put in an offer next week of renting it for a year with a view to buying after.
just wondered about other peoples take on this
it won't make any difference to my opinion but my mates have given me some strange looks!!!
Flame away!!!!

I wouldn't purely because it could be very difficult whe you want to sell it on.
There was a case in the Courts a few years ago about a couple in Wakefield who bought a house , found out the owner had murdered his live in cleaner (slave) and chopped her up and buried her about the house. The buyers argued they would never have bought the house if they knew its history. They lost the case and the house was then sold on at a loss.

Yes I would.
I'd also play this with the Estate Agent to the effect that having found this out you are not sure you want it and of course it is now over-priced............
absolutely right, top negotiation tool! it was sold on the cheap afterwards and since, the price they want is market value but not given the history!I'd also play this with the Estate Agent to the effect that having found this out you are not sure you want it and of course it is now over-priced............
