how to take the grill off a e46 2004-5 4 dr

hi all

i want to take the chrome grill off my e46 m sport so i can paint the chrome surround in gloss black has anyone taken it off before if so please give me some advice

Open the bonnet and unclip it from the inside. Don't worry too much if you snap a few, from what I remember mine held firm with a few broken. Use satin black for the best results, but use a plastic primer and rub it down with wet dry first to score the surface. I didn't bother with primer and it regularly chipped.

i just took my time and when i opened up a gap on one side filled it with cardboard then worked on the other side. they popped out pretty easy and i did not break any clips.
