Hi Guys, I'm about to take a shortish break to the 'ring via Holland & Belgium next Saturday & I think the only thing missing from my 'spares' box is a fuel pump relay. Where might I get one from at reasonable cost and short notice or does anyone know the part number.I've been led to believe it's a Bosch relay?

They're from a Range Rover Classic 3.9. It's a good idea to have one as a spare, but in emergency to get you home it is possible to replace the relay with a link wire across the relay socket (you would need to pull the wire off when you park).

On a pre-cat you can also use an ordinary common or garden single pole changeover relay as a temporary replacement.

That's good enough to run the engine on a cat car too, but won't power the lambda sensor heaters with the engine running so it might not be happy unless/until the exhaust gets hot enough. In this case it will also turn the lambda sensor heaters on when the ignition is OFF, so you would need to pull the relay when you park to avoid flattening the battery.

Take a look at your relay, there is a part number on there somewhere, I did just that, called a local motor factor with the part code and it was in the shop the next day. Around £8-10 from memory (Genuine Bosch)

The proper Bosch relay has a diode in series with the solenoid, so you may find that the one suggested above isn't exactly compatible. I suggest you stick with the OE relay unless you understand the difference.

I stand corrected, the one I linked will work ok under all normal circumstances, however the genuine Bosch realy has a diode in series with the coil to prevent danage to the ECU if the battery is connected the wrong way round!

Sorry to be a bit slow - but I cant find the bosch part on these sites. Want to make sure I am fitting OEM - is there another part number I should be looking for?

Clever Trevor has them. You should have time to get one by the weekend.
