I think it may be a Purple Emperor

Ive been told its an Elephant Hawk Moth,which seems right

[Mexico.]

Could be a six spot burnet moth without the six spots or the four spotted moth

It a good year for hawk moths, I found this at work the other day




Privet Hawk Moth, it was 3" long when its wings were back!
