Took the Cerbera into the local MOT stations for a pre MOT emissions test. Nearside bank was perfect. Off side failed showing lots of hydrocarbons. Tester said this might suggest a missfire. However, I have new coils, leads and plugs, plus the injectors have been flow tested and the laptop software shows similar readings from both banks. Any ideas?

Mine is the same.

It got the "pass" though and I just left it and it drives fine.

What were the numbers?

Main thing to do when you have an emissions test is get the numbers. You can pinpoint the problem a lot easier when you have them.

As for failing, sod that just stick it up the other pipe! wink

I'm sure it will 'pass on the left' but I'd be interested to know what is happening. The tester was surprised how good the left was and how bad the right was. Yet she starts and runs perfectly.

Offside bank has the cam chest breather pipe feeding into it and usually a hose from the purge lines as well.

Any of the experts know if this is likely to be the cause?

It would be wonderfully ironic if the hoses reQuired for emission control were causing the high hydrocarbons smile

I had this when mine went for the test. I am almost positive one of the cats had collapsed. Swap your cats round and see if it makes a difference.

I have no idea.

Lets just say that the figures on the print-out were may have been slightly different to the ones from during the test.

This happened to me too wink Infact my emmissions bore an uncanny similarity to a 1.2 clio hehe
