Bluetooth retro fit
Discussion
Hi all. My x308 2002 XJR has the 'phone in the armrest' option but I would ideally want bluetooth instead. Has anyone done a retro fit, or is the only option a third party system? I really hope but doubt there is a bletooth module that can be plugged in instead of the phone handset.. Thanks for any advice
I have the newer XJR with Jaguar phone fitted and had the same question. There were no solutions I could find to use the existing phone (and thus the onscreen functionailty / built in mic etc). So in Dec 2007 I got a Parrot MK6100 Bluetooth fitted (although any after market kit would have done) and had it hidden within the ashtray compartment in front of the gearstick. I just flip the ashtray lid to make a call and use my phone's voice dialling, although you can set up the parrot with voice dialling too if your phone doesn't do it already). The mic is fitted on the top of the rear view mirror and is effectively invisible. The audio comes out from the car's speakers and the music mutes automatically (although I had to pay extra for a kit that did this as my 2003 XJR is before the new fangled common standard for hifi kits, as yours will be too). It works extremely well and was pretty cheap (I think £200 fitted).
