I arrived at Rockingham yesterday for the VXR track day for the afternoon session and spotted another black VXR (reg KV56...). I tried to see if I could park mine next to it but there wasn't room. When I was coming back I saw it leaving with plenty of sideways action on the gravel car park biggrin Was it anyone from here?

Haha, spotted at last

Yep that was me in el beast, had a great day at Rockingham, but tbh when I saw the acres and acres of open gravel car park I'd have happily given them the £130 or whatever to just play in that all day! Having failed to drift the VXR8 I needed to convince the other half it was just a matter of being familar with the weight of the controls.

Well, it would have been rude not to try

I love that car. How did you find the day, the Astra VXR (awful throttle response aside) was the most fun I thought.

Wait a sec… you own a Monaro and you haven’t perfected the drift? tongue out I almost managed it but lost it right at the very end when I went for a bit more opposite lock and hit the stops.

Were you on track first or second? I was on at the end of the day when it was piss wet through so most of it was spent battling with traction, or a complete lack of. The VXR8 was losing traction in a straight line at quite high speed on the various crests. The Astra was the most fun though even if it was a bit understeery. Did you sample the delights of the Insigna's brakes on the track? The discs were so warped the car was almost shaking itself to bits!

It was a great day out all in all - £120 to spend the afternoon abusing someone elses cars biggrin Buffet wasn’t bad either smile
