Murcielago Kit Cars
Discussion
hey mark. Im sure you will get some comments on wanting to build a new lambo kit car after just finishing your ultima. I wont comment on that! I did see this year at detling i think the kit you mentioned. It was on a stand comparing it with a real version of the same car. On its own it looked good as lambos do but next to a real one it did look cheap. Finishing on the dash, engine cover and general dimensions ment that you could easily tell the difference. Not my bag. I dont like the f430, f360 or older lambo kits! Supercars should not be imitated. They cost that much for a reason! Keep the ultima.

Thanks guys sorry it was a moments weakness. Ive thought better of it now.
Thanks
I'm very glad to hear it, but I can understand too. Thanks
I have seen some very good replicas, but I reckon the cars of that type that one sees at shows etc have had hundreds of hours of hand finishing applied to them. I know how difficult it can be to fit fibreglass parts to a simple seven type car, goodness knows what it's like with a Lamborghini replica!
I'm probably going to get slated here but.... I am currently in the process of getting some bits (cars) together for a DNA430 build with a V8 4.2 powerplant, I love the look of these super cars and relish the opportuntity to replicate one within my budget.A few of the many reasons these oem cars cost so much is low volume high development, massive overheads.
Look at the engine, ferrari has been caught up with BMW on refinement and power but they still demand exotic money values
Why are there soooh many AC builds out there? Because the original, for one, is a beautiful car.
At the end of the day most kit cars are what they say on the box, a kit, many of which use a donor car or parts to complete the build, is a replica so different?
The extreme lambo was a possible choice, I sat in it at stoneleigh, you are cacconed in the cockpit, the owner admitted it wasn't an everyday car, but because the original MR2 chassis was stretched, a V8 etc powerplant was possible for a more authentic feel. Looks wise the extreme was impressive but should be left for weekend outings, but the DNA is a very accessible car. And will be my choice of build

Why not go for something like this ?Look at the engine, ferrari has been caught up with BMW on refinement and power but they still demand exotic money values

my anti-Italian exotica is softening somewhat. With the exception of a Hawk Stratos ( which is TOTALLY acceptable in every way) I am even starting to appreciate the Dino 246 replica providing it has a V6 in the back and it built properly. I still struggle with Ferrari reps with a 4-pot in the back as for me the excitement of a Ferrari is the noise and performance, not being looked at. But I totally take my hat off to anyone who sticks a V8 or V12 in the back. I think I have softened after reading the running costs of exotics, £5k for a Lambo clutch after10,000 miles and £26k for four Veyron tyres!! I'd say for an engineering challenge to build a V12 Murcialargo replica with DIY running costs then I salute you. At least you could afford to run and use it hard without bankrupting your household!

#yes but thats the whole point, dont buy or pretend to have something you cant run!
You can buy a real F355 for around £25k at auction, so I do not think that is the issue as many people spend that and more on middle-range kit cars. Or Mondeos. Kit Car people like making things, and get satisfaction from the build. And running costs of a real 355 Ferrari are not that bad if you just pootle around in it and get it serviced at an independent specialist. Do not think that is the issue at all. There is only one thing funnier than revving up a Ferrari replica and it sounding like a Jap 4-pot with a K&N filter, and that is a real Ferrari owner being bothered by it ;-)
