Heater Airflow Switch

My Griff 500 has developed a problem with its heater airflow switch (the one that directs the air either towards your feet or the screen). The motor seems to be working ok because when I push the flap away from the micro-switch the motor runs. It seems to be pushing in one direction only and turning the switch has no affect. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this?

Next question. How does the T bone come out and where are the fixings?

Before you do you can remove the radio and lh heater vent and find it and give it a bit of a tug.

To remove the t piece there's two M6 nuts behind each seat on the rear bulkhead, get your head in there and you'll see them. Remove those, undo the handbrake cable from inside the O/S wheel arch so you can get the lever vertical then you can pull the t-bone backwards, up and out.

Easy job as long as your handbrake adjuster is already free to turn.

If you have a car that has frequently got damp inside in the past this can lead to corrosion on electrical connectors. Sometimes taking off and refitting the relevant connector from the servomotor to the Heater ECU (to the left of the radio in the dash) a few times can cure this kind of fault. Also the tracks on the PCB inside the ECU can get corroded and upset things, but try external stuff first.

My car is nice and dry with no evidence of any leaks but this problem seems to have occurred since I took my dash out to fix my speedo. Are the any connectors in this area that could have been disturbed during this process?

The heater ECU sits just behind the dash to the left of the radio...
