Ok should i be worried now...

Went out for a drive to see if my clutch issue was still the same and it was so went straight back home thinking will need to take the car in to get looked at. Can change gear but sometimes it sticks to the floor when im using the brake...

Went to check the oil as saw the temperature was about 65 degrees. Noticed that the oil was showing at just over half way... Car recently had a 24k service so should have been changed and filled. Its just over half way... is that what i should be seeing? Is half way too low? Should it be showing fullish as its jus had a 24k service?

Should show full ALL THE TIME (when engine is warm); better even to overfill slightly.

It should have, but may not have been. Top her up, then once your clutch is sorted keep an eye on the level after every time you use it. That way you'll be sure either way.

If you haven't revved it too hard, it should be OK. As said above check the oil after every long run.
I check mine almost every time it has been out (engine warm).

Keep an eye on it - my engine was in a sorry state, the oil consumption was significant. But, as has been said it may not have been topped up properaly after service so may be worry over nothing...

So should you dip the oil when the engine is hot? I always thought you should only check cold? Or am I miss reading something here...

It has a dry sump, so the oil needs to be checked straight after stopping the car because once cold you will not get an accurate reading. Pull up, have a rag to undo the cap (it will be very hot) and then clean and dip the dip-stick in the usual manner - there are a number of threads on the subject.

Agreed. The key here is operating temp, not near boiling after sitting in a jam etc. warm her up gently, and then check.

What would you say is 'operating temperature' and not boiling/too hot? I tested mine at 65 deg the other day...

The important thing is to try and be consistant with temperature and time (from turning engine off to dipping), and always try to be on level ground.

Interesting, I've always done mine cold, better change that habbit now then, thanks for pointing this out.

Can also be done with engine at tickover which makes it easier to be consistent.
