308 - 355,which car with £35k budget
Discussion
Hi all, been prowling on here for a while and just decided to throw open my dilemma to the public! I have a budget of £35k for my first ever Ferrari and i'm considering either of the models from 308 to the 355 and i'm finding it difficult.I like the classic looks and interior of the 308 but would it be a little slow to live with and require more maintainance due to its age?The 328 appeals with more power and similar looks but i'm not so sure i like the interior so much. The 348 seems a bargain on paper,i like the look of it externally but inside im not so keen and it seems to have had poor reviews when tested? The 355 seems to have everything going for it on paper, but i'm not sure i should start off at the top end of my budget which will leave me no future models to progress to and also would i really get a good rhd one for £35k? All advice much appreciated

I've never driven a 308, 328 or a 348 so I can comment on what they are like. The 355 is a brilliant car, however I would be a bit worried that you would be buying at the lower end of the market. The 355s on the whole tend to be quite reliable, however only if you buy a good one in the first place. I would always recommend to keep a little money aside encase of emergencies.
As I said earlier I can't comment on the 348 or 328, but they are probably your best bet. If I were you I would go test drive all your possibilities and see which your prefer.
Hope that helps and good luck with your search.

308 isn't fast, has a poor driving position if you are anywhere over 4ft 6, rusts like billy-o and doesn't have power steering, but boy is it beautiful and I agree, the interior is prettier than a 328's.
A 355, is easier to drive, much faster, makes a better sound, is beautiful and has power steering. Driving position is much better too.
Whichever you buy, it'll be an event. Me? I've done the 308 thing, so I'd buy a 355.

depends what you want out of the car but without a doubt, the 355 is the best car of the bunch, and one of the best ever.
There are some good car's at good prices at the minute. I know of a really really good car that changed hands for 33k, which is upsetting.
Don't be put off by a 35k 355, just take a good specialist with you to view, you will not be disappointed.
Where abouts are you based?
Cheers,
Richard.

You'll get a very good 348 for mid to high 20s. If you get one of the later GTBs or Spider then you have a 176mph car that looks like a baby Testarossa. They are pretty robust and have very good, very neutral handling characteristics. Just like a big go-kart.
The stories about the handling being a bit unforgiving on the limit are exactly as it says, "on the limit". I would hazard a guess that the car's limit is significantly higher than yours
Under enthusiastic driving conditions it is brilliant. No PAS to numb the steering feel and you can really slide it and push it about quite rewardingly
The 355 is probably a nicer, more refined car to drive every day though if that's what you wanted.
