Dump Valve

Looking at fitting one to my '03 WRX. Apart from the 'pish' sound they make I'm told they help reduce turbo lag. Am I wasting my money (£170 ish) or should I get one?

Already a post running on that bud from today. It seems yes its a waste on a standard car.

Your 03 WRX will already be running a diverter valve, you will gain no performance/lag decrease from running an aftermarket vent to atmos BOV, all you will do is cause the car to run rich during gear changes, as you will be dumping air that the ECU has already measured and provided fuel for.

You could upgrade to a Forge or similar DV though.

True, but is there really any gain to be had? The diverter valve on my MR2 has two connections, one that sees boost, the other sees vacuum. The more boost that it sees the tighter it pushes the valve closed.
