Hi Y'all !

Love this message board. Be interested to hear your ideas about my 97P 4.0 Chimaera. Most of you seem to have trouble keeping your cool, especially in summer. This winter, I can barely get my water temp above 65-70 on the move, though it does rise to 80ish stationary, when the fans cut in. This worries me slightly, as I was advised to keep the revs below 2500 'till 70 degrees. Is this a problem ? All fluid levels are OK, and she seems to run sweetly. And before you accuse me of light footing it, the wilton's only worn in one area, beneath the acclerator.

Ps Summer temps between 75-90.

Hi
My previous chim was similar. The temp guage was dodgy. It worked, but just didn't give a correct reading ( does that make sense ? ). I always thought I had a super cooling system, until the otta switch failed & it boiled over. Temp guage was reading just over 80 !! You can get a modified otta switch though, that turns the fans on about 10 degrees ealier.

You didn't buy my previous chim did you ? 97P halcyon midas pearl

Sounds similar to mine (after I got the otter switch changed - before that the car was running a little hotter resulting in much angst when sitting in traffic )

Now:

Cold mornings - 70 to 75 on when above 40 mph
- 80 to 90 in traffic fans doing their thing

Fan should generally cut in at 92, so there is something amiss, probably the gauge.
