Recommended Architects - Surrey - Caterham (ish) area....?
Discussion
Got a fab recommendation from Will & Jake for a builder... now we're looking for an Architect to speak to for a couple of extension ideas we've got...
I've never done any major work before so I'm presuming that a local Architect might be better.... would also like to start with someone who comes with an endorsement.... any suggestions/links?
Thanks..

If you want 'creativity and good ideas' (sic) you need an Architect not a surveyor.
Surveyors are not noted for such things, they tend to wear short sleeve shirts with a tie and drive diesel Audis.
Try the RIBA, they'll recommend someone appropriate, locally. http://www.architecture.com/
Best of luck with the project...

I shall host a beauty parade and make my selection based upon ability to dress in appropriately stylish attire - including shoes and briefcase.
Shoes and briefcase are very important.
Yes I'm familiar with RIBA but would always prefer personal recommendation - as per Bob the Builder who I have lured away from Jake & Will with my superior buscuit and tea provision.

I know this is going to sound dumb.... but do I need an Architect or a Surveyor or both?
I'm gonna project manage this just like Grand Designs.
Don't forget to ignore all professional advice, and if things go wrong, just pretend you meant it to be like that anyway. I'm gonna project manage this just like Grand Designs.

Maybe I'll do that. Yes I could be a star.... I could be all morose and sarcastic about all the contractors.
I could say "well, on Pistonheads, that well known building advice service... they told me to".... etc etc
