Hi, can anyone tell me procedure for turning off the tyre puncture alert on my 535d??

Can't find the handbook anywhere, have checked the tyres and they seem to be fine.

Any assistance much appreciated

Cheers, B

Is the E60 not on runflats? When you say checked the tyres have you put a pressure guage on them? If it is on runflats there is no visable sign of a puncture.

There also quite sensitive to pressure changes...

If it's anything like my Z4, give it a wash.

Had the puncture warning last week, checked all tyres, no problem.

Took it to tyre fitters, confirmed no problem.

Light still wouldn't reset.

Washed the car. Light goes out. confused

Sorry forgot to mention car running on the optional 19 inch wheels so tyres are not runflats.

Surely I can avoid getting a stealer to reset this?

I have the same car with 19's. I have always found that not reseting (activating) the flat tyre monitor , after it has alerted me, turns it off.
I believe that the system works on the basis of rolling circumference of each wheel, and any differences it finds whilst be thrash it.

Here is the procedure I used:

1. Go to petrol station and turn off engine
2. Inflate all tyres to correct level
3. Back in the car, turn ignition on (but not engine)
4. In Idrive go to the RPA option
5. Choose "set tyre level"
6. Wait say 30 seconds then start engine and drive away.

Spot on, sometimes it takes a fair few miles for it to re-set. I'd say equal pressures as you will want different pressure in none RFT's! Your tyre fitter should be able to advise on a sensible pressure. RPA is in Main menu mode, vehicle settings option (from memory).

my 530 has been doing this as well, its on runflats which i hadnt considered but its not done it for a month or two. But the above proceedure is spot on. Did that 4 times on mine over a month and it hasnt done it for 3 months now. I checked the tyres every time with a digital gauge i had which goes to 0.1 PSI, worst it was out was by 0.3 which can be put down to barometric differences. Seems somewhat sensitive though. Sideways, slight hijack. Oddly it makes a noise from the back drivers side tyres which sounds like a dumping of air when you switch of the ignition about 5 seconds after. what the hell is that?

Thanks for your input guys, equalized the tyre pressures, took 15 mins for the car to sort itself out, then I reset the
Rpa in car. Sorted.

Dunno what the noise is, but your tyres sound like they're unevenly worn. Is it an auto that doesn't shift gears properly? If the tyres are worn differently it would cause the wheel speed sensors to give spurious results.
