In all seriousness though, you wouldn't find a bespoke suit for anywhere near that this side of China. You may be lucky to get a half decent off the peg suit in the sale and have it modified by a tailor in that budget though, but I would think even that would be cutting it fine.

Saying that, and I don't mean this in any derogatory way, but there may be some places in Luton, Brum, Bradford that will do you a bespoke suit for that price, but it may not be exactly what you're looking for.

Last time i needed one Reiss (regent st) had an off the rack for £400 and then tailored it for free for me, that good enough?

Austin Reed have got a deal on at the moment for a tailored suit at £399 with a free shirt/tie. Can't speak for the quality though, I just noticed it in the window on Saturday when I was in town.

i only ask because there was an atricle from one of the broadsheets which i read online today saying that bespoke shirts could be had for £29.50 and tailors were trying to compete with Hong Kong tailors coming over and sailing tailored suits. I have 3 tailored suits- 2 UK ones which cost 4 figures, and a Hong Kong one which cost £320 inc 3 pairs of trousers- i prefer the hong kong suit for fabric and cut!

For £400 you'll easily get a reasonable quality suit from Slaters, who'll tailor it for you for free.

Google 'Musson, lincoln'.

It's by a chap called Andrew Musson who is top quality and worked Saville row for 20 years, but has moved back to Lincoln to take over his fathers business. his work is quality. For that money you get to choose EVERYTHING.

Lining, pockets, pocket position/angles, pleats on trousers, butoon/ sham button holes, etc etc.....too much to list.

Highly recommended.

Even a handy pocket for the clip on tie and reinforcement so your Doorstaff identity badge doesn't leave unsightly marks.

I was measured for one back in January by Oliver Woo, was going to cost £550 inc second pair of trousers.

Only problem is since then Oliver Woo seems to have vanished with my money!

you will get a "made to measure" suit which is essentially an off the peg suit altered sligthly to fit better for that kind of dough, either one of the Honk Kong tailors that visit the UK in london hotels would be a good place to start (adverts in metro almost daily) or you could try http://www.asuitthatfits.com not got one from there myself, but will be ordering one this weekend when I collar the GF to measure me...

a proper "bespoke" suit involves several fittings and a hell of a lot of work, these start at around 2-3k, on my wish list, but a million miles out of my price bracket right now, especially when you can get an MX5 for that money!

I have never purchased a suit from these guys but was put off for life after buying possible conterfeit underwear from there. sounds pathetic I know but I've bought Ted Baker knick nacks which have survived 5-6 years of pant ripping farting and waist busting burger eating, yet the ones I got from there fell apart withing a few weeks, clearly not the same product...

Paxman moans about the quality of M&S pants, I do the chav version and moan about slaters...

got a suit, some shirts and a dinner suit from them. Absolutely superb for the money. £750 for a suit with 2 pairs of trousers, dinner suit and 3 shirts.
Don't get your missus to measure you though, they'll do it in their office for £20 and guarentee the fit adjusting as necessary. If your missus gets it wrong, they'll charge for major corrections.
Takes about 6 weeks to get your suit done.

Personally I'd never, ever, ever use them again. I'll not repeat as I've posted it all here before but it ended in a total farce.... just try getting a refund! And if anyone does decide to give them a go, doing your own measurements is possibly the worst thing you can ever do (my suits were ridiculously badly fitting and that was being measured by them, if you do it yourself they won't alter them!!)

Don't bother if i were you - for that kind of money you are better buying a quality off the peg suit - unless you have thousands to spend taylored suits are over rated IMO, and peg suits have improved over the years.
Oh, and don't fall for a Lewins suit - they are terrible.
DAKS, Aquascutum etc all good - even got a Zara suit - needed one in a hurry - £150 and its surprisingly good. Sewn by child slaves too...
