Are there enough tunnels in the Leeds vicinity to do a tunnel run along the lines of 'Thunder in The Tunnels' do we reckon?

The airport is only short but you could keep going round the block biggrin ....then head out towards Otley which has some fine roads.

Airport tunnel is 30mph IIRC and heading back in direction of town is a prime spot for the BiB just after you exit the tunnel!

I live on the end of the runway so I'll stand guard!
I think its more than 30 but as soon as you exit it drops to 30mph.

I'd be up for this would have to be nice and early though as the inner ring isn't often empty.

Have been seen the BiB at both ends of the tunnel. It's 30 as you go in, 30 as you come out although there might be slight variance in revs in the middle tho!ears

Loads of bits of tunnels all over... if you can find a good circuit of them all that takes them in in a good order etc, then I think you could get a good 30mins of driving around with a good portion along tunnely sections.

I always bloody get lost out near the Jimmy's ones, but while I'm lost they do sound good to be ragged through biggrin

I think so. I'm sure a circuit could be made up, although it might be necessary to use second gear through some due to the BiB taking an unhealthy interest in some of the finest sounding ones! I don't know the Leeds area all that well myself but I suspect that when Trickie gets back from his jollies he'll be able to advise on some extra ones!

As long as I am not racing, count me in.bounce

May I suggest a midnight run, inner ring road with watchers either end. Certainly one on top at the entrance going towards Vicar Lane. This is what wives are for, I volunteer Wallet Watcher for the first stint (if she reads this I am dead)shoot

We could make a circuit through the city centre, up Brigate and back into the tunnels the opposite way, then off towards the motorway, under the tunnel, round the roundabout and back again.

One circuit equals 4 tunnels smile

Oh, and as long as it is not raining, I am now sporting Cups, wet, no grip.yikes

Are you referring to the tunnel if you go down off the inner ring road down towards the Police station? That is an absolute monster. Could be tempted, but perhaps small groups would be prudent for such obvious misbehaviour?

Early morning or late night would be best for sure. The inner ring road down to J2 at Elland Road at least has 2 good ones and a couple of other small ones. There must be more somewhere.
Is there not a list of tunnels on Leeds CC website or the Highways website? I'll check.

Have it on good authority that many of the tunnels are having NPR cammeras instaled. Easily modified to record speed!!!!. Up for this but TD is the man on his return..... Mitch.

I can supply noise. Keep me in the loop.

And I would do it by email or PM once a date and time has been decided or we'll have quite a lot of interest.

This sounds quite CHILDISH and ANTISOCIAL ... where and when? Count me in! Have you counted the one under the station, no wait, this is a childish gathering of noisy cars with high carbon emissions, driving without good purpose just cos exhausts sound brilliant bouncing off tunnel walls. Certainly not (thats a def "YES") ... I have thought for a while there are enough to have a fun evening. The oh-so-sad-cos-it's-off-this-year Vue cinema evening used to make those inner ring walls reverberate, and as there is no Vue cinema evening then in memory we should do this, whether we want to or not!

Me three. I may not be quick but I can make a fair old noise with a s/s trumpet and a sports cat. Which is kind of the point on a tunnel run anyway.

DAMN, I put my reply up all of 3 minutes ago and hoped that by now we would have a route, date, time, and 50 cars signed up frown ... note to me, be more patient, look back in 10 minutes smile
