Been trying to sort out a mis-fire at partial throttle & was hooked up to the laptop this afternoon & Lambda 2 is only working 50% (if that) of the time, meaning it's overfueling & the adaptives are HUGE (30+).

Does anyone happen to know if Lambda 2 is the passenger or drivers side ?

Thanks

Olly
(trying to save a little bit of time & hoping I can get it cleaned before Goodwood on Friday ! banghead)

Get under the car you lazy ***. :-)

The wiring to the Lambdas says 1 or 2 IIRC.

Post a data download and maybe a few of the real gurus can post an opinion, and see if we were right. yes

hehe

I'm just trying to see if I can have a stab at getting it fixed for Friday (while being out the house from 5am to 9pm Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday !)

Debating going & soaking them in 3in1 now ready for extraction tomorrow night.....smash

they should come out easy enough, they are supposed to be done hand tight then a further 180degrees. iirc.

if you think you have them the wrong way around swap the plugs over on the lambda sensors and monitor the results

They are the right way round, but number 2 is only sporadically giving a reading and the adaptive's are huge on the same bank. I'm hoping a good clean will sort it? smile

Right - problem solved ! biggrin

It was the lambda that was playing up (Lambda2 = drivers side BTW), but it was the connector, rather than the sensor......

How that (above) was giving any sort of reading to the ECU, g*d only knows, but one new connector block later (& a few hours swearing at how small the gaps are between my chassis/exhaust/gearbox are) & we're all sorted ! biggrin:driving

So, next time your under your cars, make sure you lambda connectors aren't resting on the downpipe ! eek

Ahhh, that'll be the earlier type lambda sensor connector that was made from leftovers of Christmas Pudding. Notorious for giving dodgy signals they are.

Are you 100% sure Lambda 2 is the Passenger side, this may prove important to me over the next few days.

Lambda 2 (on the ECU software) was giving a really intermittant signal last week at anything over 1500rpm. Yesterday I replaced the pictured connector & readings are now normal.....

So yes - on our car (December 1997 built), Lambda2 is the drivers side . smile

(the only way of being 100% on any car would be to disconnect 1 of the Lambda's (assuming both are working) & seeing which then stops working in the diag software...... Sorry for not saying "Yes 100%", but we all know TVR change things randomly, so 2 cars produced 3 days apart could be different depending on who build it)

Thanks for quick reply, just seems odd how cylinder numbering starts from front passenger side (ie No.1 cylinder is front on passenger side) but lambda numbering starts on drivers side (ie No.1 lambda is on drivers side)

Just wanted to be 100% sure.

You know what - I'm now doubting myself ! Lieing upside down under the car, I'm now not 100% sure I'm right (as what you says makes logical sense)! confused

I'll check tomorrow & post back again (as it only means opening the bonnet & getting a torch out)
. smile

I can find out tonight if that's not too late? I have my passenger manifold off and the car up in the air so enough access to read the labels.

Thanks for checking each.

I was at TVR Power earlier and Jason confirmed that Lamda 1 and Throttle Pot 1 both serve the odd bank (1,3,5 & 7) on the passenger side.
