Stilo engine problem? crankshaft? low oil pressure
Discussion
Im after a bit of advice.
Ive got a stilo 2.4 abarth all singing and dancing selespeed which i thinks died , its come up on the dash as low oil pressure and the engine makes a loud knocking noise coming from the cambelt end poss by the oil pump. It still starts perfectly revs ok apart from the knocking noise which dies off when the revs steady this can be heard clearly inside and out. Im led to believe its the big end bearings ££!, or could it be the oil pump thats knackered? ???or could it be a noisey bearing etc.
Ive been told to repair £1800 if its the bearings and crank
Engines are a bit pricey 2nd hand (plus take a chance) how much would a recon generally cost would i get away with a short engine as if it aint much different i think would be better. Does anyone know of somewhere trusted that does recons in the west mids area ?
any help appreciated

Might be worth checking in the Stilo section on the Fiat Forum.
I think the site is www.fiatforum.com
