Ok a month ago I bought a 1983 E24, (one of the few in the country), I've known the previous owner for 10 years and he's had the car for that time, great overall condition, mechanically perfect, no rust.
After a month I've a list of 24 jobs, biggest body job is to touch up the front spoiler, car goes to a classic car restorer this week (he has done my road car and my track car so he is know and good)
All the trim is perfect but the needs to be refitted on the B pillars and new door rubbers.
Only real problem are;
Temp gauge not working, plan to get the board resoldered.
ABS light on, mechanic will sort this.
Central locking not working, I’ll replace whatever is broke with used units.
Computer not working
The warning light panel not working,
So question, what do people think is the best way to proceed on the computer and warning light, my thoughts are used units from Ebay, if so will any other units fit E28, 32 or 34?
Are there any worthwhile improvements.

Sounds obvious, but with so many electrics not working, is there not a fault with the loom perhaps?

Don't think its a loom fault, all the high power electrics work, engine, windows, very humid here, and the low wattage/ampage stuff isn't working. But the restore has a good auto electric guy, so if its electric as opposed to electronic, it fixable, Car is in stunning condition, never seen road salt, when its finished it will be great, its 26 years old so I suppose just electrics is not a real problem.

With the computer, are you sure it's not just the backlight has blown? Mine has gone, but is visible in direct sunlight or by shining a torch on the display.
