Hello, better half has finally conceded to investing in a decent watch for herself, i have always bought rolex's and over the last 20 years they have proved a very prudent investment, but she is sadly favouring what i consider to be jewelery i,e channel j12, any thoughts?.

A watch she doesn't really like and therefore doesn't wear seems a bit pointless however good an investment it might be.

Allowing for inflation I'm not sure many watches are actually good investments.

I totally agree. Fashion watch it may be, but if that's what she likes, you're paying for the style and the name, not heritage - but that's ok in my mind. If she doesn't care, what difference does it make if you're both comfortable with the price.

Watch snobbery is a waste of time - except when dropping the hammer on Graham! smashsmashsmashsmash

Depends on your point of view of course but as well as being a piece of jewellery the J12 is a high quality incredibly well put together watch.

Channel? isn't that an area of water between France and Englandshire? googled it as I had never heard of this 'new' fashion house and it came up with this... http://watches.infoniac.com/new-chanel-j12-watches... which looks very nice. I asked my ex which watches she liked and she said Gucci, I wasn't going to argue.

Not a fan of fashion watches but the ladies J12 in black is a very attractive watch - would buy one for the missus but it's slight too large a case for her dinky wrists.

thought long and hard about a J12- now regretting not buying it. They are very well made with good movemnts, and more scratch-proof than basically anything else on the market...
