I have a Briggs & Stratton 35 engine on a Mountfield petrol mower - it has been abused for the past 8 years. Time for an engine overhaul - I think the carb is blocked as it 'chugs' every 6 seconds when under load and is now using some oil. Problem started when I used the last of the fuel from my refill can - thus I suspect dirt has got in there.

Would appreciate pointers to the best place to buy a new diaphram and any gaskets I may need.

I have spent hours/weeks trying to get a 2 stroke strimmer to start. Then I read about taking the spark plug out, checking first the spark plug gap, then the plug was sparking and then putting several drops of engine oil in the spark plug hole, then pulling the starting cord. This together with buying fresh petrol, has resulted in my strimmer starting first time over the last few days.

When the old Westwood lawn tractor started misbehaving the local place found all it needed was a re-ring & glazebusting. It was fine afterwards, one of the things they said was don't run it on multigrade use a 30Weight standard.
