It's a bit warm at the moment as you may have noticed.
My work premises sadly do not benefit from mains AC the main reason being we are in a ground floor unit in a shopping centre.
This means we do not have an outside wall - front is into non AC glass covered main mall, rear is into concrete maze of support corridors and roof is 3 storeys above us.
Ideally AC would have been put in when the last refit was done but it didn't happen. Now it is possible but as a retro fit is neither easy or economical.
I wondered if there are any self contained cooling units that actually work?
Portable AC units still need somewhere to send the hot exhaust air from the refridgerant.
I have seen various water based fans but wonder about their efficiency.
Area is about 40x20 ft.

Thanks David

Water based ones cool by evaporating water. That's got to go somewhere. What do you sell?

Oh, and they don't work very well.

To be honest, unless you can pull dry air in from somewhere it's a non starter. Can't get away with pumping hot air into the service corridor I take it? How does fresh air normally get into the room, just via the front door?

That's pretty much it.
We have a 3m or so gap between the false ceiling and the concrete floor above and as hot air rises I suppose it could go there.
I didn't really think there was much useful alternative but thought I'd ask.

I work for an M&E consultancy and provide management support for a portfolio of shopping centres. Most centres will let you run your pipe work through the service corridors and risers. 3 storeys isn't a big deal for your pipe work, or you may be able to site the condenser/s in the loading bay.

GLB that's exactly what would need to do. It can be done, its just a bit more involved than if you have an outside wall!

Unfortunately it is most likely your only option. You can get kit that promotes evapoitive cooling but in a retail environment it would be pretty much useless. Without some method of rejecting heat, you're pretty stuffed.

Suggest you move to Florida, it's air conditioned.
