Hello chaps.

Now, I know absolutely nothing about watches. I do however, like the look of them. I've been known to spend ages just gawping at the lovely items in Evo's flash-gizmo section, and have recently been thinking about getting something to adorne my wrist.

I have not got much money to spend, so would be looking at something (very) second hand. I also only have one real requirement, and that is to have a leather strap, or at least something that wont catch on my gorrila-like arm hair.

My budget is around £200-250, so what would you guys suggest? I would hate to spend the money on something naff, and be laughed at by the posh lads at work with their proper timepieces. The last watch I bought was probably won in one of those £1-a-go machines when I was about 8.

Many thanks in advance, and sorry for such a vague, and low knowledge post.

-a.

Loads of threads on this all the time in this section! Usual suspects are: Christopher Ward, Werners, Seiko, Tissot.

Thanks - I was reading the other chaps, but that was new watches - I was wondering if a better deal might be had with 2nd hand. I'll do some ebaying for the brands you suggest - thanks!

It's been hit by spammers too many times for the admin to enjoy. If you see something you like, email me with your details and I'll contact the seller for you.

No probs... unless it's an Omega Seamaster GMT going for £600 in which case I might "accidentally" lose your details. wink

That's a great watch, especially for £220.

sorry didnt read your first post but you can get the same one with a leather strap!

i was looking at these when i bought my ball, if it was a automatic i would have snapped it up instantly. if you look around the web you will find these about £15/20 cheaper (bracelet & leather)

I have the very watch in mind and have an Ebay seller saved. They are Hong Kong based and have it up for less than £150 posted. Do an ebay search for momi9900. I have no experience of the seller, but they have close to 400 feedback at 100% positive.

I am waiting for a weak moment before I actually click the buy-it-now.

I'm in a similar situation. I quite fancy a nice watch, quite like the new Omega PO, but I don't wear one at all at present! I was planning to buy something in the £150-£250 mark to see how I got on with it before shelling out on something like the PO.
Quite like a few of the Werners, nicely priced too. A Seiko would be the other choice but you're well into the £200-£300+ bracket and that seems a lot just to "try" wearing a watch!

Loads of posts on here about buying good, reasonably priced watches to which the stock answers are:-

1) Get a Seiko
2) Have a look at Werners
3) Join TZ-UK and get a great second hand deal

Well, I finally bought my new watch.

I really like the look of the Tissot's, but wasn't sure which model - some are too fussy, and some not fussy enough.. I decided on a nice Automatic jobby, a PRS 516. It's fussy, but not overly so like a Seiko. It's heavy, but not too heavy.

So, here's a couple of pants pics (and one stock photo).

A company called South Devon Watch Sales, through ebay.
