As part of my respray plans I am going to repaint the engine bay. It is currently black which is wearing through to reveal gold or silver below (as mentioned in my other post) The question is do I respray it black or can anyone recommend a better colour that will help with heat reflection (if this is possible or required)

Cheers

it should be the same colour as the rest of the car.

Black sounds dull, but may have been for heat ABSORPTION, as you really don't want heat reflected back INTO the engine bay by a light or reflective colour...just a thought. smile

All that I have seen have been body colour. But I have sprayed mine black - as I painted the car Gulf racing colours and thought as some point I may change back .. so easier not to have to do the engine bay again !

"it should be the same colour as the rest of the car."

"All that I have seen have been body colour."

so now my opinion:

if i open the bonnet of a car and it has a differnt color than the rest i will start discussing about the price (there is only 1 direction:significant down).
when the car isnt for sale and its e.g. at a meeting i would walk away.

buy a Lotus Esprit: enginebay and the insides of the doors are always sprayed black.

I've always been impressed by the gold foil lining in the McLaren F1.

I wonder how much that would cost to fit to a wedge?

lick

do you have any other pictures of said car in it's Gulf racing scheme please? only I've always thought a wedge would look good in Gulf colours.

Sounds like a good idea. Lets all paint our bays black to prevent them falling into the hands of the trolls.

Notice how I avoided using the word enemy
