I need to get my wife a safer car for about 5-6k, that also needs to be reliable.

I know very little about French cars and have been warned off modern Peugeots as apparently they are very unreliable, especially electrics. So was wondering what people though of modern Renault's, particularly the Megan?

They have had brilliant saftey ratings for a few years now, I'm just not sure what they are like to run

Thanks

I look after my own motors, and properly maintained they all have a superb reliability record.

Personally I love em. What year you looking at?

I've only had Clio's not megane's but I have had many... often all accident damaged, 1.4, 1.2 and the 1.5 DCI (ive had the 2001-2005 shape and the newest clio shape) all very good never had any major problems with them. my dads had a 1.5DCI from new done 60000 miles in 3 years and the only thing hes had is a new alternator!

The newer shape one had been in a low level flood.. didnt do anything to it just dried out the interior and that was still Fine never had a problem!

As you can tell im a Renault Fan
