Was wondering if anyone has had any experience buying from this seller. His main shop shows a US location but he also advertises a handful with location showing as London.

I'm after a used Speedmaster Pro and this shop regularly features good condition and authentic looking ones for sale.

I bought a Speedy off him last year. Did a bit of research first and he seems to have a good rep. Can't remember what he put on the packaging but I didn't pay much in the way of duty either smile

Thanks Benny - so yours was shipped from the US then?

And how much did customs sting you for that you consider 'not much'?

Appreciate the feedback!

Researched him a while back when I was after a speedy.

He seems to always be on ebay, at least for the past 3 years, consistently selling decent speedies!

I 'won' an auction at the weekend from this seller. I am London based like the seller (although he is a US member), and I expected to be able to collect the watch in person and pay in cash. Jmryshi informed me that their UK based agent was prohibited from meeting buyers.

I didn't think that asking to meet the seller and making a cursory inspection prior to the purchase of an expensive was unreasonable. As a result the sale was not completed.

Mine was shipped from the US. The guy couldn't have been more helpful when supplying shipping info etc.

Not much was errr, nothing, if I recall correctly biggrin I wouldn't take that in to account when buying from the States though. Assume the worse and if it doesn't get picked up then it's a bonus smile

Maybe not under normal circumstances but I'd never make that assumption on eBay. If it wasn't stated in the ad that they were happy for the watch to be picked up then I don't think you can have too much to complain about really. I guess they have security issues to think about.

I'm not complaining, nor am I suggesting that there is anything untoward with any of the offerings from 'jmryshi'. I am simply stating that I find it most unusual that a seller would not allow a buyer to collect.
Having been ripped-off last year on eBay to the tune of £800, I no longer assume that other eBay members are as honest as I. There will be other watches, and other oppurtunities to buy the watch. This one was not for me.....

I can only assume that even if a particular item listed by this seller is listed as London based, that it will actually be shipped from the US. I'm not sure I'd like to take that risk.

listing the watch as uk based makes it show up in ebay uk listings, thus increasing your selling area.

Cheers Dom. It's a fun car biggrin

I've only had one problem with eBay and it was a £30 car part but I agree buying watches on there is a little scary. I've only heard good things about jmryshi but as you say, being able to view it and pick it up would be the ideal situation. On the flip side if I was selling an expensive watch on eBay I'd be wary of meeting the buyer in case they coshed me over the head and ran off with the watch smile
