-Just planning a long weekend up at Alton Towers, stopping over for 3 nights & then we are thinking of spending the 4th day going for a bimble up in the Peak District & then stay 1 night there.

Anyone recommend some decent roads/places to visit/decent place to stay for b&b?

Thanks

Blimey! take your pick of roads in the peak district, but a good one is the oopnurthring. Start at glossop, head to sheffield over snake pass, then take the strines moor road till you get to midhopestones. Then head to holmfirth, then fro m there to glossop via holme moss. this takes you onto woodhead pass briefly before you turn off for glossop via the devils elbow. As for staying in the area, there are plenty of places in buxton and surrounding areas. HTH

I agree witrh Snowey, but NOT if it's a sat / sun late morning/ afternoon. You'll spend all the time doing 40, and gertting harassed by allsorts.

Much better running around the roads near Buxton:
For a suitable route, check out:

Google Maps - will work if you copy & paste: http://www.saska.co.uk/2009serp_run/2009sr5.kmz into the Search Maps box.

That gives you a nice scalable version of this:

Did this last weekend, mostly not bad for traffic. DO NOT SPEED ON THE CAT AND FIDDLE.

I'd heartily recommend this run, and if you have a tom tom / garmin then use this link so you don't get lost and/or miss the best bits.
