Will be buying a VXR8 soon, will go for either black or Evoke as it is easier to maintain (metallic grey doesnt show marks as much).

I havent had a great experience with black, needs washing more frequently and one car I used to have showed bird dropping marks in the lacquer even when they were washed off within hours etc.

That said I think black looks better, and some of this depends on finish and the quality of the paint.

Can owners of black VXR8's in particular share their experience on this? I believe they are semi-metallic finshed does this help? Do you find small marks or bird dropping show damage on paintwork? Do you get the usual swirl marks showing after you have the car while?

I like black, just want to make sure I spend more time driving it than washing it.

Thanks in advance.

not a black VXR8 but a black Monaro and all the problems you mention I see on my car. Can spend a full day washing and polishing and if theres a shower or even if a breeze gets up the car looks like it hasnt been touched with either dirty water marks or dust. It definitely looks stunning when its just done - pity it wont stay that way for long. One of the reasons I swapped my black astra for a dark grey as my daily driver.

Nickel Silver is also excellent. You can never wash it and it looks the same as when its washed, except not as shiny smile
That being said, Evoke was my preferred colour at the time. Although the Blue one was also tempting.
All in all I would be happy with almost any colour EXCEPT Red, which is a bit cheese for me.

Mine's Black and always dirty but it doesn't bother me that much, rather be driving it than cleaning it! Would have got Evoke if it was available at the time as my last car was Black and Evoke is slightly more exclusive.

Mine is Evoke, it was not my initial choice. Lots of people (women mostly) say what a great colour it is.

I was concerened that black is hard to maintain and keep nice.

Thanks for the feedback useful to have a second opinion on these things, Evoke it is I think, despite the fact my wife doesnt like it.

Ok...I know the thread is Black or Evoke, but what about white....or silver?
Personally, my preferred choice of colour for the VXR8 is white. Looks cool when it's clean, looks cool when it's dirty. wink

white allegedly almost completely sold out and those remaining appear to be at a small premium on the price, so I heard from someone thats just bought a blue one.

My first vxr8 was black,my latest one is evoke.
Evoke definately looks/stays cleaner looking longer.
I also think it suits the car.

I was not allowed to have white either but I must say I did not like the Evoke and so it is black - the same as the GTO (Monaro VXR)

Hi mogv8 i have a evoke vxr8 and it looks very nice after a good clean . i think the best thing to do is maybe pop along to a meetng and have a look at some of the cars as i would think that they would be clean .then you could make your mind up then

Checking them out tomorrow.

Reckon I prefer black, but may be less obsessive compulsive on the car washing if I go for evoke. Decisions decisions....
