I've wanted one for a while and now I have the opportunity to buy a brand new 2009 Stainless Steel Daytona from the USA for £5900.

Given that jewellers such as Blowers in Hull here in the UK are selling them for £7000+, this seems like a good deal to me. Presumably this watch shouldn't depreciate much further than the price I'm paying (in case I decide to sell it on in the future)?

Won't customs want a word when it comes into the UK?

To the tune of the thick end of £900, yes.

Good point. Thanks for waking me up. I'm actually going to be in the US to collect, but I must admit I'd forgotten about import taxes frown VAT, plus a few %, right?

If you declare it.

Or the sender does, for you.

Hope you've remembered to factor in US sales taxes. Prices are generally quoted without sales taxes, so depending upon what state / city you are buying in you can get clobbered for a decent bit more on top of the sticker price

AFAIK sales taxes don't apply if you have it sent to one state from another. So, if buying from CA and you are going to TX they post it without sales tax. That's what I did with a load of camera equipment and it worked. Yes, if you buy it in the shop add about 6% to the price I reckon.

Local taxes are already included in the price in this case, but yes in the US they normally price things without tax of course. It does seem like a good deal..... Not sure if I can justify it, though!
