I wear a normal Rolex Datejust..plain steel..love it and have done for past 12 years. I get bombarded with spam e-mail re. replicas. Anyone got anything good or bad to say about any particular suppliers? i do appreciate a Mueller for $200 is going to be just that..but will they last more than a few months /one spilled deer ?

I wouldn't bother personally, I've seen some nice looking fakes of decent quality with knock off ETA movements in them but ultimately they are just cheap knock offs. I don't think wearing/owning a fake speaks very highly of the owner either.

I regard them along the same lines as fake cd's and dvd's It amazes me that there are adverts from companies whose sole range are fakes, why are they not closed down ad prosecuted confused

For an idea of what is out there, look at www.tt88time.com

Some are good quality, some are 1:1 replicas. Others are quartz sh*te.

Never used them personally, but I know they list most of what is available.

Prob based in a country that has no Copyright law. At a guess.

I met a friend for a drink this week - he was wearing what appeared to be a Seamaster Chrono that to my interested but far from expert eye looked pretty genuine - although it had a dull gunmetal finish to the case and strap, rather than the usual bright stainless steel of every other Seamaster I've ever seen.

I asked him about it and he was very reluctant to talk about it and changed the subject - unusual for him as he's usually pretty forthcoming and keen to talk about his toys. I formed the opinion that it was a fake and he didn't waant to be embarrassed by having to admit it.

I must admit that there are a couple of dodgy Breitling and Rolex fakes in one of my drawers - along with a particularly tasteless cigatette lighter shaped like a willy, all of which seemed like a good idea in a market in Bangkok after a few Singhas - but I'd never wear them for fear of an encounter like the above.

What's the point in wearing something that will make no impression on someone who has no interest in watches and makes you afraid of being exposed as a try-hard by anyone who does know their watches ?

Nothing to do with replicas but my titanium Seamaster (non chrono) has what I would describe as a dull gunmetal case and strap as opposed to a shiny st/st one, it's a few hundred quid premium on top of the standard watch & no where near as common. Just an observation

Replicas eh?

If they didn't have Rolex, Patek, Omega, whatever, plastered all over them, no one would buy them, they exist only to pretend to be what they are not. They are purchased simply because they have Rolex, Patek, Omega, whatever in big fk off letters on the face. Any one that says they bought one for any other reason is full of it.

To be fair, the PH search function is usually about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

...but seems pretty reasonable when you type in "Replica watches".

As you were.

I had been looking at this http://www.europeanwatch.com/10167.htm and then on doing a bit of research I found this http://www.86watches.net/goods.php?id=8738

To my untrained eye they look identical apart from the price.... has anybody had dealings with European watch?

ETA I have sent an email/information request to EW and I await their response.

I had both pictures on my screen and I cannot tell the difference, if some kind soul would like to put them side by side for me I would be grateful!

Well, they're selling fake watches. I doubt they'd have too many qualms about flogging your credit card details to whoever wants them.

It's not unheard of for them to use images of the real watch, why stop at plagirism when you've started with counterfeiting....?

well sort of! I would have preferred the master perpetual, it's a bit thinner but if they are all fakes then I'm having to rethink the one I get.

I'm pretty sure the link to European Jaeger in MA is discontinued some time ago.
