Jessops (Edinburgh West End) laying off 50% of their staff

Spoke to one of the staff today when he was out for a walk at lunchtime, he's been made reduntant along with lots of others from the shop.

The two guys that I would rather deal with knew their stuff, and were extremely keen & enthusiastic. I'll miss them

Not good news.

That's where I got my DSLR a few weeks ago, it's 5 minutes from work.

I can't say I had the best experience. The guy that I was asking for a "test drive" of some of the cameras didn't have a clue about the different models/features and was very impatient.

But I did notice all the other assistants sounded pretty decent with their customers - shame it wasn't one of them serving me!

We had two Jessops stores in Basingstoke up to a couple of years back.

One store in the "old" section of town that seemed to be staffed with enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff (I got some cibachrome prints done via them, stunning pictures). It was shut down shortly after their second store opened in the more happening part of town. But that newer shop tends be staffed by useless weekend kiddies who couldn't help anyone with anything.
