Transmission Light- is this right?

now im not entirely sure if this is a daft question and me just having a senior moment

but recently i have noticed that the transmission light stays on when i turn on the ignition, all the other usual lights disappear but this light stays on, but does go when i turn the engine on, now as i say i have only just noticed it and don't know if this is normal or not

the car is a 54 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI LX

sorry really don't know why i said transmition light, what i actually ment was the engine management light

i am pretty sure it is normal, a slong as it goes out when the engine turns over.
